VISIT BRITAIN
 Return to MusicWeb International)

To think it was once said the Britain was "Das Land ohne Musik"
But who said that? This has taken a lot of tracking down and I am grateful to Reg Williamson as none of the reference books were any help. The origin seems to be the title of a book by a German journalist just before the first war, anti-British in sentiments and generally slagging off the English for a lackof "kultur" His name was O. Schmitz, we think either Oscar or Otto. more
