I am not convinced that Thomas, a one-time Bernstein protégé, has inherited his former mentor's Mahler identification, nor are his flashes of insightful detail enough to add up to a consistently absorbing performance. ... see Full Review

Recommended. The recording is superb and it is difficult to believe this is a live performance, given the overall excellence of instrumental response. More than a curio, this Fourth has an appeal and an impact all of its own. ... see Full Review
