Amongst those who have kept faith with my music in recent years Adrian Smith stands out. This is not simply because of the numbers of my works that he has performed, but more because he concentrated his efforts on some of the works that are dearest to my own heart, and brought such depth of understanding to his interpretations.

I will always remember those occasions when I was able to attend the concerts in person, both for the pleasure of hearing Adrian and the Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra in action and for the warmth of my reception. Now, every time I listen to the recordings, I am reminded of the debt of gratitude I owe to this remarkable musician.
