MusicWeb International 25th Anniversary -2020
Heartfelt congratulations on the 25th anniversary of your indispensable daily review website. At a time when the few remaining print media review fewer and fewer classical recordings, your website has become an essential platform for informed classical reviews, frequently publishing the only review of a new recording. And, by and large, the reviews are well written, balanced and informative. I myself read practically all the new reviews and go to the archive from time to time to find reviews I had missed. Here is to the next 25 years! I hope I will still be around by then.
In the meantime you can be assured of my full support.
Klaus Heymann

In a world which is thick on headlines and thin on content Music-web-International bucks the trend. Reviewers are allowed to fully explore and compare performances. They are able to discuss and consider new repertoire. They are encouraged to describe the booklet cover and content. Artists and labels invest heavily in creating releases and it is essential to know that we will get at least one honest and accurate global reaction. MWI is a digital platform for physical products and one that is much needed and much appreciated.

Congratulations from everyone at Hyperion on MusicWeb’s 25th anniversary. Your site is invaluable to our label and all of our artists and customers with its well-written and thoroughly researched expert reviews. Long may you continue.

Simon Perry

It is surely a sign of an advancing age, when 25 years feels like the
day before yesterday. For someone like me, who has been doing what I do
for 46 years and still work 80-hour weeks, 25 years isn't all that much.
That said, however, for a site like MusicWeb International to be able to
do what they are doing so well, for such a long time, without any State
or other support, borders on the unimaginable. The perspicacity of Len
Mullenger and his co-workers in the garden of musical culture is simply
amazing, and the score upon score of reviewers contributing to a most
worthy-of-reading site extremely impressive. I know first-hand, since I
had some years of service as an Editor/proof-reader for any review
(other than for BIS, naturally).
Many happy returns, Len, and do keep going; we need you as much as you
need us - a true symbiosis.

Robert (von Bahr, CEO, BIS Records, Sweden)

Congratulations to MusicWeb International on reaching your 25th Anniversary! Your dedication and hard work are very much appreciated here at Chandos. Best of luck for the next 25!!

I can’t speak for those among MusicWeb’s readers who are the ultimate customers of us all, but I do know that MusicWeb International has become a vital feature in the lives of those thousands of us whose professional activities are focused on classical music, and recordings in particular. We labels know that MusicWeb is often the first place that our musicians will find their recordings reviewed, sometimes weeks ahead of the print media, and it thus provides a timely fillip to anxious artists wondering how their performances might be received. MusicWeb is a leveller, too: small, independent labels like our Toccata Classics, which can’t afford to pay for advertising in the magazines, know that our efforts will be treated even-handedly alongside the majors and that money doesn’t buy coverage. Mention of money raises the point that it is remarkable – and eloquent testimony to the efforts of its founder and his followers – that MusicWeb has been able to do as much as it has done for as long as it has done as an entirely voluntary operation. As a professional reviewer, too, I sometimes wince at the occasional gaucherie in a MusicWeb review, but the compensation in having a team of reviewers who are all volunteers is that they are doing it from a love of the subject, and so the tired, bored cynicism of some of my professional colleagues is not something that one encounters in a MusicWeb review. Indeed, skimming through the digest of reviews sent out every Thursday morning is about as close as I get to religious practice, and I salute all those whose efforts have made it possible.

Heartfelt congratulations on 25 years of extensive writing about music and musicians, composers and record labels. MusicWeb’s reviews are always a joy to read, as they are in-depth and thorough, and always reflect the authors’ knowledge of the subject. MusicWeb has become an important chronicle of the recording industry and a hugely valuable online resource for music lovers. We wish Len and his team all the best for the next 25 years (and beyond), and are grateful for the attention that our releases have received over the years.

Congratulations to MusicWeb International for the 25th anniversary.

Best wishes for the next 25 years - from all our staff and artists at Profil - Edition Günter Hänssler and hänssler CLASSIC.

Many thanks for your ongoing support!

Kerstin Hänßler

I again send my sincerest Thanks and Congratulations to MusicWeb International, this time on the occasion their 25th anniversary. Based upon their stubborn habit of maintaining a staff of writers of great knowledge and integrity, and on the tremendous value of the informed and thorough reviews and features they provide, I suspect I will be sending additional thanks and congratulations on the occasion of their 30th. As an old RCA Victor slogan went, MusicWeb International will be “sustained by their reputation”.
Robert LaPorta

We live in interesting times. Fewer people consume their music via CDs but we still want to make them, partly so we can talk about the music in our booklet notes.
Download sites are notoriously uninterested in this, so it is especially valuable that MusicWeb International continues to discuss albums and the concepts behind them in an informed and enthusiastic way.

Jeremy Polmear

On behalf of SOMM and my colleagues I would like to thank you wholeheartedly for your tremendous support over the years. Informative and extensive reviews written by a team of reviewers of knowledge and commitment have turned MusicWeb International into a Music Magazine you and your team should be proud of. We send you our warmest congratulations on the 25th Anniversary of MusicWeb International and best wishes for continuing success. Long may it continue.

Heartly congratulations to MusicWeb International on the 25th anniversary. MWI is an incredible resource to music lovers and professional users and it is amazing what has been achieved. I wish Len Mullenger the very best of luck for the years to come.

25 years ago the fledging Beulah label took the opportunity to send its releases, in those days on compact disc, to Len Mullenger's newly created Music Web International.
Over the years that Beulah has expanded Music Web International continued to publish the insightful reviews .
Since 2010, when Beulah ceased releasing on compact disc, our downloads and streaming albums have received reviews from the knowledgeable Brian Wilson.
Beulah wishes Music Web International continued expansion, its archive of reviews are invaluable, and success.

Barry Coward

From Tactus Records (Italy) and its team, the sincerest congratulations to MusicWeb International for Its 25th Anniversary!!

On behalf of Albion Records I offer warm congratulations to Musicweb International and to its founder, Len Mullenger, on the website’s silver jubilee. We particularly welcome the coincidence that Albion’s owner, The Ralph Vaughan Williams Society, has also just celebrated its first 25 years. Musicweb International is a wonderful resource: free for all to use, with reviews and articles going back to the very beginning. The learned contributors are able to write full and descriptive reviews, without the constraint of print space and without bias – and this establishes Musicweb as an unparalleled and authoritative source of reference.
Congratulations to MusicWeb International on a quarter century of high quality reportage! The musical world has been enriched by your important work. Best wishes!

Congratulations on the 25th anniversary of the website you founded MusicWeb International! This website is very special! The number of CDs reviewed is very large and the reviews are very detailed. Those interested in buying can look forward to all this information.

For the reviews you have always selected very good and competent reviewers / musicologists who write very correct and honest reviews. These are authors who are really interested in the music and also the interpretations! These features have become rare among critics today !! But that is also your merit and that is what makes the great success of your website, which has become huge in the 25 years!

We are pleased that MusicWeb International will continue to exist for a long time and will remain as successful as ever!

We wish you much further success!

Congratulations on your 25 years. You have a very respected review site and you deserve the highest commendation for keeping it going. Here at Crystal Records we always look forward to getting the weekly review sheet from Music Web. It has become the most inclusive place to find out what classical CDs are being released around the world and what labels are currently active. Your reviewers are uniformly very good.

I do know the good feeling of longevity. Crystal Records is celebrating its 53 years of business this year. It has been quite a run.
