Why Did I Build a Site Dedicated to Bobby Hutcherson?

The simple answer is that I love Bobby's music, and I knew that putting together a site like this would be a great excuse to spend a whole lot of time listening to it.

I've been a Bobby Hutcherson fan for many years. But I became a much bigger fan after hearing him perform for the first time in 2004. The music was just like his demeanor on stage, open and full of life. My wife and I went to the concert, and after the show we were talking about how much we'd enjoyed Bobby's music. My wife said that she wanted to read more about him. When I told her that I didn't think that anyone had written extensively about Hutcherson, she said that I should do it.

So I began reading what I could find and I started tracking down his recordings, both as a leader and as a sideman. (I now have almost all of them.) Over the last couple years, I've compiled a complete Bobby Hutcherson discography, listened to his music incessantly, and looked up information about his music. I wish the fruit of my research could have been a book (and maybe some day it will be), but, in the meantime, I'm sharing what I've learned on this web site.

My Charles Ives Web Site
Another one of my passions is the music of Charles Ives. I've also built a web site dedicated to him and his music. If you'd like to take a look, the URL is http://www.musicweb-international.com/Ives.
