Ron Jackson - Guitar
Norbert Marius - Bass
Matsuura Hiroyuki - Drums

This is a great trio playing a programme consisting of two jazz standards and seven originals by group members. The playing is of virtuoso standard throughout: amazing technique, improvisational skills, and all combined with good taste.

The sleeve-note is uninformative, but a look round the net reminded me that I have heard of Ron Jackson before: a very experienced guitar player who works regularly on the NYC jazz scene. Norbert Marius is Hungarian and drummer Matsuura Hiroyuki hails from Japan. All three are very well schooled and experienced jazz musicians, and their different backgrounds give a very rounded overall feel for the trio.

Every track is polished and well thought out, the original compositions are tuneful and interesting and the jazz standards have been reworked to give them an attractive "new" feel. In Jackson's guitar playing you get the feeling of all the jazz guitar greats of the past and the support from both Marius and Hiroyuki are spot on.

I think this is the first recording by this group; it should have a great future in jazz clubs and festivals around the world. This is world-class music!
