Very often you can judge the quality of a vocalist's performance by the company that they keep. No self-respecting musician wants to be working with a vocalist who is other than top-class. This rhythm section is superb and so is every one of the horn players who play on the various tracks. If this hypothesis is true, this should be a knock out album. Well it is. Melissa is a top-class singer, worthy of comparison with the very best.

Everything about this album is just perfect: the choice of programme, Melissa's performance and the superb support she receives from her musicians. Every track swings in the way you would expect from someone who is on top of their game and who has a genuine feel for jazz.

If you enjoyed the great jazz singers of the past, you will enjoy this and I recommend that you rush to wherever you get your records from and buy it!
