Recorded in July 2008

Royce Campbell is a pleasant, melodic guitar player who produces his own CDs and possibly markets them as well. If he happens to read this, I would like to suggest to him that he gives us just one page of sleeve notes, so that we are better informed about him and his trio. The packaging of the record is pleasant enough and just a little information would help listener and reviewer alike.

This is very attractive Christmas music and I intend to play it at our family luncheon on the day. It will provide a very nice background to the traditional turkey. Bob Bowen and Ron Free are also very neat players, which is most likely the reason they were chosen for this session by Royce.

This session does not attempt to be ground-breaking, but anyone who has tried will tell you that most of these Christmas songs are not the easiest to jazz on. It may be because the melodies are in many cases so strong that it is hard to get very far away from them without courting disaster.
I feel sure that it would go just as well with your Christmas dinner as it will with mine.
