Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival Appoints New Artistic Director

The Board of the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival is delighted to announce the appointment of Susanna Eastburn as its new Artistic Director from April this year. Susanna will bring to Huddersfield an extensive knowledge of contemporary music both in this country and overseas from her recent experience as International Promotions Manager at the music publishers, Chester/Novello.

Susanna takes over from the present Artistic Director, Richard Steinitz OBE who retires from the Festival in April. Richard, who is a Professor of Music in the University of Huddersfield's Music Department, has overseen the development of the Festival for twenty-three years. From the first programme, a handful of events in November 1978, to the present series of over sixty events, the Festival has become internationally acclaimed as a model of its kind. Susanna inherits some of Richard's plans already in place for the 2001 Festival. The 2001 Festival runs from Wednesday 21 November to Sunday 2 December.
