Nine Inch Nails – And All That Could Have Been…Live (Nothing / Interscope Records)

Andy Law

Without question one of the most innovative and talented songwriting groups of the last decade, Nine Inch Nails return to the spotlight with stunning 16 track live album And All That Could Have Been…

Trent Renzor – producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist (a.k.a, NIN leading light) is a musical genius. In NIN – a band full of dark textures, brooding intensity, epic structure, fierce moods and blood drawing anthems – no ordinary band here exists.

And its safe to say that live, NIN are, as you’d expect, just as clinical, and just as shit hot – if not more so. Anthemic opener Terrible Lie is the signal for uninterrupted NIN bliss – from the head battering March Of The Pigs to the legendary titled Starf***ers Inc (penned during Renzor’s feud with Marilyn Manson).

Heavier moments are complimented generously by epics and softer ballads – try the haunting, classically influenced vibes of The Mark Has Been Made, the epic Great Below or the gorgeous Hurt, and its difficult not to adore.

Chuck in old classics Head Like A Hole, Wish and Closer (a chorus boasting, ‘I wanna fuck you like an animal…" an its an exhilarating musical and lyrical ride. If you’ve yet to witness the thrill, buckle up on the Nine Inch Nails roller-coaster, go the entire course, and let them enhance the way you listen to music forever,

Basically, And All That Could Have Been… is a live classic. Get it bought.

Verdict - @@@@@
