And you thought you had heard genre jumping before? Not until giving GRAN TORINO a listen have I heard an artist take such a long jump between anything that was available to the ear with the center being anything that is moves the feet. This is good time music, downright happy actually. For comparison's sake take 2 parts BLOOD SWEAT & TEARS with two more parts SPIN DOCTORS and add a pinch of Bob Marley and you are cooking in the same kitchen as GRAN TORINO. Check out the way "PHYLISS" borrows from an old Salsa theme and dresses it up as a GRAN TORINO original, great stuff there. Music without many boundaries, that is GRAN TORINO.
