Nostradameus - The Prophet Of Evil
AFM Records, 2001
7.5/10
Vincent Eldefors

Nostradameus is one of many new Swedish power metal bands that have popped up during the second half of the 1990's. Most of these bands consist of well-educated very skilled musicians who all have the capacity of conceiving something great but unfortunately they often sound the same way as everyone else and this is also the case with Nostradameus. What makes Nostradameus climb slightly higher on the power metal ladder than many of their fellow bands is the wonderful voice of Freddy Persson which is most clearly noticed in the beautiful ballad "Requiem (I Will Honour Thy Name)". The rest of this album sounds pretty much the same way as most other modern power metal bands although they are on a slightly higher level than most of the competition. As far as power metal goes this is a real good album and I think most power metal fans would love this one easily. Nostradameus is no new Helloween or Gamma Ray but I doubt that was their intention in the first place. Keep on fighting for metal!
