Tom G. Warrior
(Tom Gabriel Fischer) was on tap for Metal superstardom in the late
eighties and then as quick as he and CELTIC FROST came to public consciousness
they were gone. Personally, I blame the “COLD LAKE” album
and the ridiculously limp-wristed photos from that period for the fall
but Fischer has his own culprits in mind and tells all about them in
this intensively blunt autobiography.
Autobiographies tend to be overly self-aggrandizing but here Fischer
lets it all out, the good, the bad and the ugly, which makes for a fascinating
read. Truth be told, it isn’t really necessary to have a familiarity
with CELTIC FROST at all to enjoy Fischer’s recollections and
reasonings but should you already be a fan this is an absolutely unparalleled
treasure to own.
I would recommend this biography to any young band that thinks they
have what it takes to scale the Metal mountain, Fischer will tell you,
it ain’t easy but boy can it be fun. Rare photos and complete
discography included.
