Misteltein - Divine, Desecrate, Complete
Not
many had heard of the Swedish black metal band Misteltein until the release
of their crushing debut album "Rape In Rapture" last year but the band
has been around since 1996. Their follow-up will be released on October
8th and then they'll head out on a European tour together with the Dutch
death metal band God Dethroned and the German death/thrash hybrid Night
In Gales. In other words they are moving up the ladder despite tough competition
in the hierarchy of extreme metal. Their new album is very similar to
the first one but it is more varied with both slower classically inspired
sections and some nice metal riffs. The keyboards are still a very important
component in the Misteltein machinery although it sounds a little cheap
sometimes. The music of Misteltein could perhaps best be described as
a mixture of Dark Funeral (speed and intensity), Dimmu Borgir (classical
influences) and Cradle Of Filth (the vocal variety) but they are not playing
in the same league, at least not yet. There is more to come for sure and
the third chapter should be even better.
