MOTORHEAD as a three piece has always been the thing for me. They have
proven time and again that they are capable of doing so much more with
that one less component in the mix and "WE ARE MOTORHEAD" is a glistening
example of that theory.
The last studio record, "SNAKE BITE LOVE," took a bit of a slagging in
the press and from the fans for being a little lighter than the rest of
the MOTOR- catalogue. I mean, the fans do have the right to expect that
MOTORHEAD will always be the loudest and heaviest thing on the shelves at
that point in time, this is the bands apology for 'SNAKE BITE LOVE."
Nine of the ten tracks are pure an un-compromised MOTORHEAD with a
smattering of that old style punk flavor that made the classic first
three albums the essential metal that they are. What is a little bit out
of character is the choice of covers, namely the SEX PISTOLS "God Save
the Queen." This one is especially strange as it does nothing with the
original that a countless number of other metal bands haven't already
done and it would seem to convey sentiments opposed to Lemmy's previous
support of the monarchy in England. I am sure he has his reasons and
given that the rest of the album is vital MOTORHEAD any trespass is
forgiven. They are MOTORHEAD and your not a further reason to pick this
disc up is not needed.
