Burt BACHARACH Songs Broadway Singers VARÈSE SARABANDE VSD-5889 [60:03]

The songs: What’s new, pussycat; Are you there (with another girl)?; I’ll never fall in love again; My little red book; One less bell to answer; [Bacharach at the movies: The Blob; The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance; Raindrops keep falling on my head]; Alfie; The look of love; Anyone who had a heart; Whoever you are, I love you; Window wishing; A house is not a home; [A Bacharach love story: Magic moments; I say a little prayer; Close to you; Wives and lovers; Make it easy on yourself; Promises, promises]; That’s what friends are for.

Bacharach’s songs have, of course, become classics and, as you will notice from the track listing above, many have been used in films. All these songs are delivered with zest and style by a cast of young Broadway stars including: Farah Alvin, Jason Graae (in a very spirited and cheeky version of What’s new, pussycat?), Helen Reddy, Guy Haines, Christine Noll and Jane Krakowski (currently starring as the know-all secretary, Elaine in the hit TV series, Aly McBeal). I need say no more except - delightful.
