Thompson
Simon
Thompson is in his early 30s and teaches
at an independent boarding school in
Edinburgh. He has been an avid record
collector ever since buying his first
CD (Verdi's Rigoletto) at the age of
14. His special interests are opera
and singing, but also in the core Romantics
like Bruckner, Mahler and Tchaikovsky,
all of whom have contributed to the
large weight of CDs which now make his
shelves groan. He was trained in the
piano and trombone, but gave them up
a long time ago and now focuses more
on singing bass with local choirs. He
also reviews live music in Edinburgh
for Seen and Heard and loves devoting
as much time as he can to sharing his
opinions on music with anyone who is
prepared to listen, including his long-suffering
students who have no choice.
