DEREK WARBY is a freelance music consultant. Over more then 25 years, he has worked for the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the National Centre for Orchestral Studies, Docklands Sinfonietta (later Sinfonia 21), Lontano, The Hanover Band, Primavera Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra of St John's and most recently was General Manager of the European Union Youth Orchestra. For many years Derek's burning passion has been seeking out and programming unjustly neglected repertoire and has been responsible for orchestras revisiting the music of composers such as Caldara, Enescu, Bantock and Voríšek, as well as unknown masterpieces by well known composers (eg Mozart's Thamos of Egypt at the 2006 Proms). Derek's music tastes are catholic and include modern jazz, rock and film music.
