LIGETI, Gyorgy
b Dicsöszentmárton, Siebenburgen, Romania, 28 May 1923

He studied at the Budapest Academy of Music, and taught there from 1950 to 1956, before moving to Vienna. From 1957 to 1958 he worked at the Cologne Studio for Electronic Music, and in 1959 became a lecturer at Darmstadt. He was visiting professor in Stockholm, Bilthoven, Essen and the USA, becoming professor at the College of Music in Stockholm in 1961.
