d Venice 1586, aged seventy-six

Nothing is known of his early life. He may have been a singer in St Marks, and was organist of the church of St Geremia in 1558. From 1562 he travelled in southern Germany, returning to Venice in 1566 to become organist at St Marks. His nephew Giovanni collected and edited his compositions.
