DARKE, Harold Edwin
b London, 29 October 1888
d Cambridge, 28 November 1976, aged eighty-eight

He studied organ with Parratt and composition with Stanford. He spent his life as an organist and working for choral festivals, and composed much music. His best-known works are his 'Meditation on Brother James's Air' and his setting of the carol, 'In the Bleak Mid-winter'.
