CAVALLI, Pietro Francesco
b Crema, Italy, 14 February 1602
d Venice, 17 January 1676, aged seventy-three

He was taught music by his father. He became organist at St Mark's, Venice, and spent two years working in Paris. He was a pupil and follower of Monteverdi. His operas are remarkable for their beautiful arias.
