BENJAMIN, Arthur

After a general education at Brisbane Grammar School, he entered the Royal College of Music at the age of eighteen and stayed there until the outbreak of war in 1914. After the war he taught piano at the Sydney Conservatorium, returning to London in 1921. In 1924 he won the Carnegie Award, in 1926 he joined the staff of the Royal College of Music, and in 1956 was awarded the Cobbett Medal.
