Judith Bailey: Visions of Hildegard Op. 72

This dates from the summer of 2001, and was begun in Hampshire and completed on the composer's return to Cornwall. In response to a composition requirement seen in a musical publication the composer drew from the instruments listed, and wrote the piece for clarinet, violin, 'cello and piano. Taking a theme from the Abbess Hildegard von Bingen the music develops through a series of short interludes. Though intended as a series of variations, it should be played as a continuous piece with "breaths" rather than gaps between the clearly defined sections.
