d Paris, 10 July 1839, aged sixty-one

He was educated at the Choir School of the monastery of Montserrat, then attended the military academy in Barcelona. In 1799 he moved to Madrid, holding administrative posts until 1808. In

1815 he moved to London, and in 1823 he went to Russia to see the performance of his ballet Cendrillon. In 1826 he moved finally to Paris. He taught and played guitar until his death.
