PATTERSON, Paul

From 1964 he studied trombone and composition at the Royal Academy of Music. On leaving he won a scholarship to study with Richard Rodney Bennett. He became director of contemporary music at Warwick University in 1974, and professor of composition at the Royal Academy. In 1980 he took up a two-year post as composer-in-residence at King's School, Canterbury. He has made lecture tours for the British Council and is visiting lecturer to various American universities.
