All music composed by Gregg August.

Recorded November 13th & 14th, 2006 at Kaleidoscope Sound, Union City, New Jersey, USA.

This is the second album from Brooklyn based Bassist Gregg August following his debut album Late August which was voted Album of the Year 2005. In that he recorded 9 of his own pieces whilst the present disc presents another 10 original compositions. One is immediately gripped by the professional nature of the works and the superb musicians he has enlisted to air them. The music is hard driven, exciting and completely original in concept with many surprises along the way as you never know what’s coming next. Modern Jazz is more than safe when there are musicians such as him around and we can expect to hear a lot from him in the future. I have only one plea to make to him and that is to include some standards from The Great American Songbook in future albums as it would be marvellous to hear how this wonderful ensemble deals with some of the perennials in the jazz pantheon of all time great tunes. Thoroughly recommended!
