This record was recorded, mastered and produced
in the UK, but it could just as easily been
a product of California, USA. There is no
doubt that Louise Pollock and Winston Rollins
are talented songwriters and musical performers,
but as the sleeve note suggests the music
is a fusion of soul, funk, rock, jazz and
other elements. The trouble is, these other
elements are the kind of weird noises heard
on ’pop’ records that do nothing for the music.
This is the sort of music that Jazz FM plays
all day because it thinks there is no market
for the real thing! I would love to hear these
very talented musicians and singers do a real
jazz set.
