Any Cleo Laine album is fine with me, she is easily the finest vocalist the UK has produced. I have been listening to her from band singer with the Johnny Dankworth Seven to her current status as an International Superstar and I have never failed to enjoy her performance. I am also a great admirer of her husband and mentor John Dankworth, who is also heard, but not featured to any extent on this album.

John Williams is probably the finest classical guitarist in the world, but he is also able to turn his hand to other genre, which is what he does here. The cross over to jazz rarely works for classical musicians and even here, things would have probably have been even better with Barney Kessell! That said however, this is a really pleasant album, with good tune selection, including some original compositions by the participants.
This is a re-release, the album was originally available in 1983.
